Motivation Stumble

I could watch my motivation stumble,
Like a drunk idea being thrown out in a mumble,
But I’d rather have the sobering touch,
Of my reality a little bleak, than honoring not doing much.

I may not have the riches of cash,
But I have the ideas of a wealthy man,
One day these two descriptions will mash,
Making me proud I had a plan.

I’m not afraid of hard work or long hours,
As long as they are fulfilled with precision,
But I will not give up the beauty of life’s power,
If it does not align to my heart’s vision.

Sometimes I am told it just “is what it is”,
So then my “is” is what it is too,
For you can’t have the other,
Unless both “is’s” are inherently true.

Who do I believe when sometimes they are right,
And my choices have led me astray,
Do I believe in the generality,
Or do I march skeptically on my way.

I could watch by the ocean another day end,
Like my life to the drifter where the sky and land blend,
But I know just being me, to the truest I will be content,
Knowing I loved my time, and each moment was well spent.

Little

A little piece of dirt,
I see you, dried up in the scorching sun,
Waiting for a drop of rain,
To soak away the cracks and pain.

A little piece of land,
With dirt and bugs a little bland,
No vegetation growing in this earth,
I wonder what it’s worth.

A little piece of me,
Deserted from the life I know,
Is this the way I want to live,
No experiences to help me grow.

Moisture for the dirt,
Water for the land,
Emotion for my life,
And the will to take a stand.

All the little pieces,
Are essential for the whole,
All the little life experiences,
Are essential for your soul.

Give yourself a little dream,
Take a little glance,
At the life you’ve left out to dry,
Give it another chance.
